Mentor UK have been working with the Right Start International Foundation to run the Muslim Youth Involvement Project.
The output of the project will be a toolkit for those seeking to involve young Muslims in drug prevention.
The outcomes for the project are to:
- Develop the skills, confidence and self esteem of young Muslims, providing them with the knowledge and skills required to make healthy life choices and play an active part in their local communities; and
- Ensure that the views of young Muslims are heard by Mentor UK, our partners, policy makers and planners responsible for developing drug and alcohol prevention services nationally.
As a first output there’s a short video which I hope you can see below.
If you want to find out more Right Start are holding a conference next month about engaging members of the ethnic minority communities in drug issues.
You can find out more about it here.
Full disclosure: for those of you who don’t know as well as being the coordinator of the Drug Education Forum I’m also Mentor UK’s Development Manager, and the Muslim Youth Involvement Project is something I manage.
