At the Forum meeting last week we were fortunate to have a presentation from Dr Nichole Taske about NICE’s work around drugs, alcohol and smoking in young people.
The presentation covers the way they work (and look for input) as well as an overview of their recent and current guidance in this area.
During the course of the presentation Nichole also mentioned that the Institute take referals from the public as well as from the Department of Health, and should you have suggestions you can add them to the mix here.
She has told me:
NICE is responsible for administering the early stages of the topic referral process, ‘filtering’ those topics that get selected for consideration by the Deparment of Health (according to explicit selection criteria which is also available at the above link). The final decision as to what topics are selected for referral back to NICE lies with the Health Minister.
