BREATHE – Anti-smoking film competition

My thanks to Sean at the PSHE Network for highlighting the Channel 4 film making competition BREATHE:

Imagine you’re hanging out with your mates and talking about smoking and why it’s not a good idea. How smoking damages your health, your looks and your wealth… Then think about how you might put your thoughts into a short film, a short web film about 30 seconds long that would make young people sit up and take notice. So that’s what we want from you. An idea for a short film aimed at young people like you that highlights why smoking is not a good idea. Simple.

In the FAQs they go on to say:

Can’t you just tell us which anti-smoking messages already work? That way it’s easier for us to submit our ideas and know what you’re looking for.
No. It’s very important for us to hear what you think. This is a new competition for young people with fresh ideas. We want you to let us know what you think works and tell us your great idea.

While I understand the reasoning, we’re not as constrained as Channel 4.

So should any potential film makers doing their research want to take a look at what we’ve noticed about information campaigns I’m happy to point to the following:

Hope they help!
