The Daily Mail runs the story about evidence given to the Home Affairs Select Committee from a senior black policeman.

Mr Logan, who has been a prominent figure in the National Black Police Association, made his comments in a paper on youth crime presented to the Home Affairs Select Committee yesterday.

He argued that since reclassification there had been a “significantly increased number of young black people at a younger age using the drug owing to its cultural appeal and easier availability”.

He added: “Consequently there has been a significant increase in drug-induced psychosis and related conditions…leading to a paranoid mistrust of the criminal justice system, other public providers and authority figures, notwithstanding any strangers they feel are a threat.”

Mr Logan said it was part of “Caribbean culture” to pass down the use of cannabis through the generations.

Mr Logan would like to see cannabis reclassified as a Class B drug.

I’ve not seen any evidence about young black men’s use of cannabis or that it has been increasing. Has anyone else?
